Larry has fifteen years’ experience in working with young people, adults, couples and families and particularly within the voluntary, community and statutory sector.
He has also previously worked over a 10-year period within the criminal justice sector as a mentor and support worker. His previous working environments include being a psychotherapist as part of the Pieta House national suicide prevention program, holding the clinical-lead position for HSE North East region in Addiction services, was part of a multi-disciplinary team of senior clinicians working in the Assessment Consultancy and Treatment Service within Child and Family Services (TUSLA).
He previously was seconded to the HSE and worked at tier three level within Arbour House Treatment Centre and as part of the Adult Homeless Integrated Service. Larry has provided bespoke training and workshops in Motivational Interviewing to statutory, community and voluntary sectors, psychological groups and within the academic sector for students of Mental Health Nursing, Social Work and Dental Health.
Larry has been a group facilitator supporting lifestyle change in a variety of areas including domestic violence perpetrator recovery programs, positive parenting and strengthening of families and extensive work in aftercare wellness programs for clients following residential treatment support. Recently Larry has gained further specialism in Trauma work through his training in Child and Adolescent EMDR and Adult EMDR and is currently fully integrated through his membership of EMDR UK and Ireland and EMDR Europe. He is also a member of Trauma Aid UK and the Association of Child and Adolescent Mental Health
Larry’s further interest in physical activity and coaching stems from his involvement in coaching and training of coaches including time as National Coach to underage and junior women’s programs as well as coaching men’s and women’s national league basketball programs. Motivational Interviewing has been core to his work in all the above areas.
